Tech Tools That Actually Make Me More Productive (Even as a Self-Proclaimed Non-Techie)

February 25, 20252 min read

Before I dive in, I have to admit—I have a love/hate relationship with technology. I appreciate all it offers, but I have very little patience when it doesn’t work the way I think it should. The issue is definitely me, not the technology! I’m also not an early adopter, so some of these tools may not be new, but they’ve made a big difference for me. Maybe they’ll help you too!

📈 Motion

This is the first project and task management tool I’ve actually been happy with—and that means I use it daily. Motion is an AI-driven tool that integrates team projects and personal tasks into my calendar and scheduling. Based on my setup, it knows my priority tasks (both personal and team-related) and when I have time to work on them. It automatically schedules tasks for me, adjusts as my calendar changes, and helps me see my workload realistically. My team can even tell whether a task on my calendar is flexible enough to be moved for a meeting or if it needs to stay put.

🎥 Descript

We use Descript for video editing, and it makes the process incredibly simple. Once you upload a raw video (like a Zoom recording from a Purpose Leader Accelerator session), Descript timestamps it, creates a table of contents, generates a transcript, and allows easy editing. It also helps break videos into shorter teaching segments for our group portal or social media and even overlays subtitles. It’s a game-changer, even for those of us with minimal video editing skills.

💻 Google Suite

I know—this isn’t groundbreaking, but the improvements in Google’s collaboration tools have made a huge difference for my team. We now work seamlessly on shared documents, spreadsheets, and presentations without the formatting headaches of the past. The ability to edit, comment, and share files in real time keeps everything moving. Plus, Google Drive’s powerful search function makes it easy to find what we need, even when our folders aren’t perfectly organized.

If you're "untechy" like me but value efficiency, I hope these tools help make your workflow smoother. After all, we’ve got bigger things to focus on—like changing the world one client at a time!
